WHAT IS GATKA

Gatka is a Martial Art from Northwest India. It is the science of self defense, intended to harmonize body, mind and spirit, making you able to deliver your message, your Essence to the World, giving you Purity and Grace.

Unlike other martial arts, Gatka also relates to the female aspect within us. Its power and skill is expressed in dance-like flowing movements, while each step is accompanied by devotional music with an upbeat rhythm.

In Gatka, balance, rhythm, breathing and meditation are trained; coordination is enhanced. Right-handers are trained left-handedly and vice versa, calibrating and balancing both hemispheres of the brain.

GATKA-the Dance of the Sword

Gatka is the martial art of the Sikhs.  GAT means grace, or liberation. KA means one who belongs. It comes from the ancient warriors of India, the Kshatriya. Guru Hargobind was trained by them, and established the concept of Miri-Piri, the Saint-Soldier.  The 6th Master united the Shakti (power to manifest) and Bhakti (devotion). Guru Gobind Singh reinforced the lifestyle of the Saint-Soldier to defend the Dharma, and the

rightful living for all human beings.

On Gatka. Words of the Maestro

Gatka brings to a human being those facilities of fulfillment, success, and excellence. Gatka is a martial art; it’s a science. “Gat” sometimes spelled “Gut” means grace, liberation, respect in your power, your good will. “Ka” means, that of, or one who belongs. Therefore, Gatka means, one whose freedom, sovereignty and liberty belongs to grace. It is an art of self-defense which makes a person graceful.

This grace comes from the great master to the spirit and it is the art of the Kshatriyas, the ancient warriors of India. It has 2 ½ steps to the left and 2 ½ steps to the right. The 2 ½ steps movements produce a 3 ½ cycle of the electromagnetic psyche to create one-point and a half strength of endurance with the electromagnetic field of the infinity of the universe.

In that total congeniality, the human Tattvas, five Tattvas, 1) ether, 2) air, 3) water, 4) fire, 5) earth, and the aura which is nine feet on each side, come to a controlled balance. So under that strength this knowledge was basically developed. And when with reverence, with the devotion and the salutation we gracefully learn it with the mantra Wha he Guru.

It is not only a defense art, but a totality of the definition of human fulfillment, human essence and human grace. It is a martial art that makes a person fearless, makes a person revenge less, makes a person able to concentrate. Every movement is scientifically originated, organized and projected. This is a discipline in which there is nothing but success. However, it does need practice. It needs dedication, it needs devotion, and it needs time. But those who spend time to keep up in this art and science will understand the art of life, the art of success, the art of excellence, the art of grace. That is what Gatka means.

I wish well to all of those who are in practice. And I dedicate it to the Guru and to the Guardian Angels which belong to all our future generations and children.

Wahe Guru Ji Ka Khalsa Wahe Guru Ji Ki Fateh!

Humbly,
