"Guru Gobind Singh Ji and Mai Bhago Kaur"
Acrylic on canvas, 36"X48"
At the battle of Mukhtsat in 1704 Mai Bhago Kaur and the fourty sikh
soldiers that previously deserted Guru Gobind Singh, charged and
furiouly fought the Mughal army, forcing them to retreat. Every
member of the Sikh contingent was killed, except Mai Bhago. When
Guru Gobind Singh went down to survey the epic carnage, he found
her lying in a pool of blood. The Guru forgave the fourty liberated
ones, and called his personal physician to attend to her wounds. When
she was restored to full health she was brought into his services as one
of his personal bodyguard.
